The Cambodian new year dinner and show that the Angkor Dance Troupe had scheduled for April 21 is going to be rescheduled. It looks like the troupe will reschedule for some time in May. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, please pass the word.

There's covered picnic areas as well as a gift/snack shop and a small
playground for the kids. There is also a nice leisurely trail up to
thebase of the falls with a spectacular view of the mountains.
Check-in time is 10:00 a.m. and check–out time is 9:45 p.m. on the
same day.
The time our group will meet will be from 11-4. Our picnic area is #1
close to the playground.

All members who attend the Cambodian New Year event will need to donate
$10.00 to help out with rental, decorations etc…

We will bring our own lunch but also have potluck side dishes and
desserts.

TACOMA, WA

On Saturday, April 14th, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Khmer Theravadin Buddhist Association of Tacoma and Pierce County will host a traditional Cambodian New Year celebration, to which Cambodians and non-Cambodians are invited. Over 10,000 people from all over the Washington are expected to attend, as well as the Mayor of Tacoma. The event will be held at Khmer Theravadin Buddhist Association of Tacoma and Pierce County, 1420 East 44 Street, Tacoma, WA 98404.

The festivities will include traditional Khmer music, dance, games and food. In addition, there will be Cambodian cultural items for purchase. This event will be fun for the whole family.

50 spaces have been set aside for information booths for businesses, and governmental and non-governmental agencies. to join the 3rd Annual Cambodian New Year Parade and Celebration on
Saturday, April 7, 2007. The Parade opening ceremony will start at 9:30 am on the corner of Junipero Avenue and Anaheim Street. The Parade will then proceed West on Anaheim Street to MacArthur Park where a festive celebration with live bands, different ethnic dance groups, children's games, food, craft and vendors will take place from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

April 21, 2007 The New Year Celebration at El Dorado Park is an all day event which includes religious ceremonies, Khmer

traditional games, activities for kids, face painting, various stage performances, cultural food, and a live band with famous Khmer singers performing throughout the day. Admission tickets are $20 per vehicle if bought in advance. Tickets will be available at a number of Cambodian businesses in Long Beach,including La Lune Restaurant,Mary’s Video,and KiriromJewelry. On the day of the event, tickets must be purchased at La Lune Restaurant or the El Dorado Public Library Parking Lot at 2900 North Studebaker Road, at $30 per vehicle. Tickets will not be sold at the park.
